Megan Potterbusch

Megan Potterbusch, originally from Nashville, TN, recently received her MLIS from Simmons School of Library and Information Science, where she focused on digital stewardship. While taking classes, she worked on special projects at the Harvard Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics Wolbach Library. Megan's projects included learning PHP and Python in order to create a database of bibliographic data by querying an API, cleaning and processing data for an article on the importance of depositing the data associated with scientific publications, and creating and curating multiple collections in the Zenodo digital repository, including the Astronomy Thesis Collection. In summer 2015 Megan interned at CERN working on documentation and certification of best practices as a member of the Zenodo team.

Before beginning her career in library science, Megan received her undergraduate degree in Women's Studies from Earlham College. After spending several years in Boston, MA, and Houston, TX, before that, Megan looks forward to settling in Washington, DC, with her wife, Kristin, and their small rescue dog, Winston. She is excited to explore the many trails and museums that the city has to offer.

Megan serves as a resident at the Association of Research Libraries working in partnership with the George Washington University Libraries and the Center for Open Science to prototype the process of linking the output from a university research unit to a library digital repository through the Open Science Framework—an open source tool that integrates and supports research workflow.
